As more and more food events get added to the event calendar, the Dunedin Seafood Festival wants in on the action. Unfortunately, the 10th annual festival returns to Edgewater Park has canceled its event for later this month. Organizers say they may hold the event at a later date on a smaller scale.
Despite what the website says, the seafood festival should not be confused with the Dunedin Stone Crab Festival, which happens in October. You can, however, grab stone crab (in season until mid-May) at the seafood festival along with fish tacos, burgers, hot dogs, ceviche, crepes, blue crab, Maine lobster, shrimp, as well as Mexican, Thai and Vietnamese barbecue. In other words, come hungry.
Wine and sangria will be poured throughout the day, and attendees are encouraged to make their rounds to Dunedin's nine walkable breweries. Dunedin's craft cocktail bar, Sonder, is also there for boozy sips.

Admission for the pet-friendly festival is free, but bring enough dough for vendors.
A free parking garage is located near Nature's Food Patch so don't drive around aimlessly in search of a spot.
Want to miss the crowd, but still get your seafood fix? Dunedin is home to fish shacks like Hog Island Fish Camp that serves up a whole fried snapper (pictured) alongside a medley of shrimp, clams and mussels. If you're brave you'll take down the entire fish, including the eyes.
