Tampa is the third best place in Florida to celebrate New Year’s Eve. That’s according to the list scientists at WalletHub, who’ve cooked up another tasty ranking of the best-of-this-and-that cities in America.
Using a data set that considered the legality of fireworks, average prices of New Year’s Eve party tickets and the forecasted precipitation for December 31, the website determined that Tampa was No. 21 on a list that sees Orlando (No. 7) and Miami (No. 11) coming in even further ahead of St. Petersburg, which landed at No. 75.
Tampa did, however, rank No. 4 in the affordability category and came in at No. 5 when it came to lowest average New Year’s Eve party ticket price. It also costs basically nothing to blow your finger off with an M-80.
In order to determine the best spots, WalletHub compared the 100 most populated U.S. cities across 28 metrics lumped into three key dimensions: entertainment and food, costs plus safety and accessibility.
When asked about the most expensive part about New Years celebrations, Craig Maus, a business and hospitality management instructor at Saint Paul College, had an easy answer.
“DUI, ticket, fines, insurance rates and putting others and yourself at risk,” he said. “Hire or appoint a safe driver.”
