According to a release, the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) carries 34,000 passenger trips each day across a service area that covers over 1,000 square miles (that’s roughly the size of Rhode Island).

If that impressed you, then you might want to find a bus to ride on Thursday, April 25 when HART joins other public transportation systems across the country for National Get On Board Day.

Public transportation facts will be displayed at HART facilities in downtown Tampa, east Tampa and the USF area as part of the awareness event, and local officials will also be gathering signatures from customers and employees in support of transit.

This is all good news for people who believe that more transport is a better option than more highways, but if you're into sitting alone in your car during a traffic jam, then you’ll probably want to stay out there inhaling toxic automobile emissions as your car idles at 0 MPH on I-275.
