The City of Tampa announced it is mobilizing into Phase 3 of its Lift Up Local program, which lessens restraints on restaurants and retailers.
Beginning August 20, the program is re-expanding the use of public and private sidewalks during the extended limited capacity orders to give restaurants and retail establishments a greater ability to use outdoor spaces for regular operations, according to a press release.
Additionally, restaurants and retailers can expand their outdoor capacity into parking lots. Parklets will also be permitted once again, as well as tents.
The Lift Up Recovery Plan began in reaction to Gov. Ron DeSantis’ order limiting restaurant interior capacity to 50%. The plan temporarily allows restaurants and retail businesses to expand their exterior business footprint into privately-owned and public space without having to go through a full application and permitting process or pay a fee, according to its website.
Many familiar requirements remain such as social distancing, masks worn by all staff that comes in contact with customers and accessible hand sanitizer.
