Tonight in live music: Rings Of Saturn with The Browning, Lorna Shore

There's a lot of "cores" in music right now. But deathcore is sort of the apex in the wild and storied history of death metal. Cali’s Rings of Saturn has an uncompromisingly heavy take on the genre – intensely technical with staggered and immense breakdowns crowning almost every track with a barrage of blast beats, and pairing signature sweep-picking guitar work with brutal guttural growls. The Browning creates a more spacious soundscape with heavy use of digital sonics and tons of open chords, the result a bellowing beast of metal and electronica. Lorna Shore has a bright future in the scene, their incredibly atmospheric and technical sound driven by vocalist Tom Barber, who has some of the cleanest-sounding death growls and screams around. 6:30 p.m., Epic Problem, Tampa, $15 (all ages).
