RV w/Sleeping Pills/Pickpocket/Donkng/Story Mode This gig is not happening in an actual shithole, okay? You’re gonna have to ask for an address on a house show where Orlando yeehaw-punks RV and Gainesville rock and rollers Donkng come together in Tampa for a show alongside local bedroom pop and noir-wave makers Story Mode and Sleeping Pills. The hosts apparently want their deposit back so they’ve asked that you “don’t be a piece of shit” at this early (8 p.m.) BYOB gathering. (The Shithole, Tampa) INFO

Girls Rock Camp St. Pete Showcase An exciting, empowering St. Pete non-profit stages its camp-ending showcase where it hopes to pack State Theatre so that the 40 campers can show off their brand new songs for a crowd ready to cheer and scream all night long. You’d have to be a real asshole to be cynical about this, but any doubts will be taken care of after you read our profile on the event here. (State Theatre, St. Petersburg) INFO

Hello Joyce w/Spirit and The Cosmic Heart/The Venus An exciting night is in store for those who travel out to Microgroove Saturday night, as Tampa outfit Hello Joyce celebrates the release of its debut effort, Couch Thoughts. Bordering on psychedelia with its self-described “lo-fi jangle pop,” the group has been a mainstay on the local music scene for several years now. (Microgroove, Tampa) INFO—LJH

The Welzeins It’s been awhile since we’ve seen Orlando-duo the Welzeins out at New World Brewery. Since then, the boys —frontman RJ Nordstrom and drummer Matt Wassum — have released an EP of salt-licked, psychedelic garage rock (last year’s Megafauna) that is still somehow available on cassette. Keep your fingers crossed for a copy at the merch table, and try to keep your head from wobbling around as the band works through cuts like “Aberration” and “Shutin, Shindig.”  (New World Brewery, Ybor) INFO—LJH

The Great Florida Cattle Drive 2016 w/J. Robert Floridaphiles — J. Roberts is back again. The composer and Sunshine State native has been busy as of late, and on Saturday he’s taking to the Hideaway to show off songs he put together for a documentary about our state’s Great Florida Cattle Drive of 2016. The event will include a screening, but we don’t think there will be any bovine cast members present. (Hideaway Café, St. Petersburg) INFO

Dead Prez Headed by stic.man and M-1, this militant rap group has been outspokenly spitting bars since the 90s. Dead Prez epitomizes a confrontational, and essential, style of hip-hop, which speaks on topics such as industrial monopolies and the stranglehold that corporations have on the media. The two originally met up in Tallahassee in 1990 while attending FAMU, and began to build a relationship based on mutual respect and a common interest on confronting the issues they saw present in our country. Since the release of its debut record in 2000, Dead Prez has always made good on its promise to deliver an “experience viewers will not get anywhere else.” (Fubar, St. Petersburg) INFO —LJH

Arise Roots w/Dubbest Reggae fans not able to catch Tribal Dreads later on in this Music Week, can get their rasta fix at Jannus Saturday night when Arise Roots makes a tour stop in St. Pete. The California group’s genuine roots, reggae music music covers everyday life problems as well as social and political topics, and its earned the Ariser-ers a loyal following around the globe. After dropping two singles last year, we hope to hear some more new material from this Roots crew’s forthcoming album still in the works. (Jannus Live, St. Petersburg) INFO—LJH

“Dollar Hollar” Sidewalk Sale Bands are still a question mark but even the possibility of live music should be enough of an excuse to pop into St. Pete’s Planet Retro Records where owner Rob Sexton is clearing out some stock by pricing thousands of LPs, 12-inchers, 45s, CDs, tapes and “other cool crap.” Get your grubby paws there around 11 a.m. to be the first to flip through the crates. (Planet Retro Records, St. Petersburg) INFO

K?D K?D (pronounced “kid”) may not have much personal information on the ‘net, but his music is very easy to find and easy to listen to. The DJ has recently toured with The Chainsmokers and performed at a bunch of festivals (including SMF in Tampa). His sound is also reminiscent of a younger Porter Robinson, but maybe it’s just the album art he’s dishing out these days. (The Ritz, Ybor City) INFO —MD

Peace of Woodstock A far out show to speak to the hippie in everyone, this tribute to the famed 1969 festival is a 90-minute performance which asks four talented musicians to perform covers from Woodstock acts like Richie Havens, Carlos Santana and Janis Joplin. So if you’re still bummed you didn’t get to catch Jimi playing “The Star-Spangled Banner” in upstate New York all those years ago, here’s your chance to see the next best thing. (Hough Hall at the Palladium Theater, St. Petersburg) INFO—LJH
