The Welzeins It’s been awhile since we’ve seen Orlando-duo the Welzeins out at New World Brewery. Since then, the boys —frontman RJ Nordstrom and drummer Matt Wassum — have released an EP of salt-licked, psychedelic garage rock (last year’s Megafauna) that is still somehow available on cassette. Dead Prez Headed by stic.man and M-1, this militant rap group has been outspokenly spitting bars since the 90s. Dead Prez epitomizes a confrontational, and essential, style of hip-hop, which speaks on topics such as industrial monopolies and the stranglehold that corporations have on the media. The two originally met up in Tallahassee in 1990 while attending FAMU, and began to build a relationship based on mutual respect and a common interest on confronting the issues they saw present in our country.
