If you plan on driving anywhere between Tampa International Airport and Belleair today, plan on some serious delays because of a planned visit from the Commander-in-Chief.
Since President Donald Trump will be in Tampa Bay this afternoon for a high-priced fundraiser, the official White House itinerary says to “expect significant disruptions in travel due to the presidential visit.”
According to the White House, Trump is set to arrive at Tampa International Airport at 3:20 p.m. Just 10 minutes later, the president will then participate in a campaign coalitions event with Florida Sheriffs.
At 3:50 p.m., the presidential convoy will leave the airport and head to the Pelican Golf Club in Belleair.
Trump is expected to arrive at the club at 4:25 p.m., and participate in a COVID-19 response and storm preparedness roundtable “with supporters,” says the White House.
At 5 p.m., Trump will then meet with supporters for more roundtables, and will deliver remarks at the fundraising dinner, which is at 6 p.m.
Trump will then leave the club at 7:05 p.m., and is expected to arrive back at Tampa International Airport at 7:40 p.m.
An alert from the Pinellas County Sheriff warns travelers to expect road closures between 2 p.m.-8 p.m. today. Roadways that will be experiencing periodic closures include Courtney Campbell Causeway, Bayside Bridge, Roosevelt Boulevard, East Bay Drive, and West Bay Drive.
"Traffic on these roadways may be closed in all directions at various times and drivers may be rerouted," the alert says. "Drivers are encouraged to avoid these roadways during these times."
The Tampa fundraiser will offer donors the opportunity to spend $100,000 for a photo, as well as access to a roundtable and reception; $35,000 for just a photo and the reception, or $5,000 for just the reception.
Trump’s Florida visit was also supposed to include a stop in Miami on Saturday, but the fundraiser was canceled due to Hurricane Isaias.
