Experimental L.A. upstart Precious Child comes to Tampa's Mojo Books

Weird music for hump day.

Precious Child has quite the pedigree. The Los Angeles experimental artist’s grandfather was a composer and conductor of the New York Metropolitan Opera House and also taught at the Curtis Institute. An uncle is an opera director with productions at the Kennedy Center and more and a cousin is a founding member of Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop in Berlin. Last year, Paste said that the imagery and sound of Precious Child’s “My Little Problem” video reminded it of Nine Inch Nail’s “Closer” plus “Prison Sex” by TOOL. That’s a lot to live up to, but the child will try at this show, one of two record store sets happening in Tampa Bay on Wednesday.
