Jessica Ferrone and Tim Seib star in Gorilla Theatre's production of Bug.

A psycho-thriller that explores the boundaries between paranoia and reality, Tracy Letts' Bug is set in a dingy motel room where Agnes White, a love-starved, substance-abusin' cocktail waitress who's obviously seen better days, lives in fear of a ringing telephone and the person who might be on the other end: her violent, parolee ex-husband. Enter Peter, an attractive, soft-spoken drifter looking for someplace to crash. Soon enough, Peter reveals he's a Gulf War vet who went AWOL because he believes he was the victim of medical experiments while in the Army. Psychotic? Paranoid? A little of both? The lonely woman who's taken him into her bed accepts it as the truth, and gets caught up in his paranoid reality. Gorilla Theatre opens its 2006-07 season with the first Bay area production of Bug; Ami Sallee Corley directs. Sept. 7-24, 7 p.m. Thurs., 8 p.m. Fri.-Sat., 3 p.m. Sun., 4419 N.
