One of St. Petersburg’s most polarizing business owners was arrested on Sunday, March 3 at 9:30 p.m. EST. Arrest records say the arrest happened at 401 Channelside Dr., which is where P!nk was playing a concert at Tampa’s Amalie Arena.
According to online arrest records, Kevin McBride, owner of McB’s in the EDGE District of downtown St. Petersburg, was arrested at 9:30 p.m. McBride, who turns 51 years old tomorrow, was charged with resisting an officer with violence and battery on a law enforcement officer (both felonies) and released at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 3.
CL has reached out to both Tampa Police and arena officials to see if the arrest happened inside of the arena.
Tampa Police confirmed, via phone, that the incident began inside of the arena during the concert. McBride was asked to leave by security and extra duty officers, according to a spokesperson, but refused. He did engage with an officer. Both McBride and the officer received medical attention. An Amalie Arena official also confirmed that the incident did take place on the property.
McBride, of course, is the guy who, in 2017, posted anti-LGBTQ remarks after catching flak over his politics before issuing a non-apology for the statements just days later. Oh, and he once (jokingly?) organized an “Angry Man March” in response to the women’s marches which uplifted the country in recent years.
