Local third through eighth-graders have a chance to virtually meet historical black authors and activists like Maya Angelou, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Frederick Douglass, and Sojourner Truth, during next week’s Let Freedom Ring: Music & Poetry of Black History performance. This event’s combination of words and song will both educate and entertain the audience at the Carrollwood Arts Center, and hopefully inspire attendees to want to change the world, too. Celebrate Black History Month while supporting local theater. Admission starts at $7.

Tues.-Wed.Feb.18-Feb. 19. 10:30 a.m. $7 & up. Carrollwood Arts Center, 4537 Lowell Rd., Tampa. Carrollwoodcenter.org
