Lively multi-genre events like the Kerouac Ride, zine fests and the Lucha Libro typewriter deathmatch have brought us to a new chapter in Tampa Bay’s literary scene. The new annual SunLit Festival incorporated all these word-centric happenings under one festival that took place March 7-15, cofounded by T. Allan Smith, a retired book trader and newspaper editor, and Michael Slicker, owner of Lighthouse Books and chairman of the Florida Antiquarian Book Fair. Its CL’s sincerest hope that the festival continues to thrive, celebrating the city and Florida’s connection to literature. The Second Annual SunLit Festival is scheduled for March 4-13, 2016.
