Of the many (insert-food-or-drink-of-choice) fests that happen within downtown Tampa's parks, Tampa Bay Margarita Fest seems to get the best music. I mean, the Wallflowers in 2018 was a great get.
It looks like organizers — who are moving the event from Curtis Hixon to Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park just a short walk away — have started to do it again in 2019 thanks to embattled rapper Nelly (“Hot In Here,” “E.I.”), who has been tapped to lead the lineup on May 25.
Nelly last played the Bay area in 2017 when he opened for Florida Georgia Line at the old Gary Amp. He's recently been in the headlines for a rape accusation lawsuit which was settled last fall.
Margarita Fest is a 21 & up event. GA tickets are $17-$35, and VIP entry (bathrooms, lounge seating plus unlimited beer, wine, water and more than 60 kinds of margaritas) start at $110. Another round of musical acts is set to be announced next week.
