Detroit indie-pop band Hala is hella good and headed for The Bends in St. Petersburg

Listen to "Sorry" before the show on July 1.

Lo-fi, feel-good pop comes to The Bends in the form of up-and-coming Motor City songwriter Ian Ruhala, who releases infectious bedroom rock under the Hala moniker. Start with a brand new single — “Sorry,” released less than two weeks ago — and then reach deep into a discography that dates all the way back to a charming 2015 live album recorded at underground Detroit live music venue The Old Miami. Dreamy Los Angeles songwriter Boyo (aka Robert Tilden) opens this show, which doesn’t have a cover charge.

Hala w/Boyo/Toasted Rye, Sun. July 1, 10 p.m. The Bends, 919 1st Ave. N., St. Petersburg. facebook.com/thebendsbar.
