Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland has been re-imagined backwards, forwards and inside out — on the stage, in books and comics, video games, TV and film, from the earliest 1903 silent version to Tim Burton’s 2010 adaption and its James Bobin-directed sequel, Alice Through the Looking Glass (in theaters May 27). Lewis Carroll’s fantasy has also inspired countless other artistic media with its themes of consumption, youthful innocence, madness, identity and altered states, and references to mathematical concepts. In conjunction with its two-year anniversary (and the upcoming Alice film premiere), Bloom Art Center presents Down the Rabbit Hole, an immersive exhibit that transforms the alternative artspace into a wonderland of mixed-media installations created by teams of artists (more than 30 individuals all told) and geared toward transporting guests “to faraway worlds and impossible places.” Costumes are encouraged, live music is included, and food trucks serve provisions in the grassy lot.
