The arts scene in Tarpon Springs is further enriched with the opening of a brand new fine arts establishment: Blue Moon Gallery in historic downtown. The gallery's debut exhibit, Small Town Big Talent, 34689, features the works of eight sponge-area artists who each bring something unique to the table.
Rocky Bridges takes found materials and discarded objects and fashions three-dimensional mixed-media assemblages, which give new meaning and purpose to stuff we may otherwise consider disposable; self-taught artist Jack Roseman creates brilliant stained glass works of various shapes and sizes while Nicholas Toth is a master helmet maker, his handmade diving helmets crafted from brass, copper and plate glass; the vibrant paintings of Lin Carte's "Serene Woman Series" explore the many paths to serenity and celebrate the journey to peace and grace; and the mixed-media creations of Elizabeth Indianos often incorporate painting, printmaking and sculpture with the written word. Other featured artists include Robyn Hillary (mixed media), Mitch Kolbe (paintings) and Robin Saenger (metal/glass).
The grand opening celebration occurs from 7 to 10 p.m. Sat., Nov. 12, and coincides with the First Friday, Second Saturday downtown shop hop.
