Drivin N Cryin hasn’t released a full-length since its 2009 working class rock-opera, Whatever Happened to the Great American Bubble Factory, but the Georgia-based band tapped songwriter Aaron Lee Tasjan to help it get back on track in a big way.

Live the Love Beautiful, a new album from the MTV-era D.I.Y. icons finds frontman Kevn Kinney reflecting on our troubling American existence while new guitarist Laur Joamets (an alum of Sturgill Simpson’s Metamodern Sounds in Country Music) jumps in with Drivin N Cryin co-founder Tim Nielsen and longtime drummer Dave V. Johnson for an updated take on the band’s hard-rocking, Southern sound.

Have Gun, Will Travel’s Burke Bros. open the show.

Drivin N Cryin w/Burke Bros.. Thurs. Aug. 15, 8 p.m. $30-$35. The Attic at Rock Brothers Brewing, Ybor City. eventbrite.com.
