Live and Local Spotlight: Orbit 19 Nine-Year Anniversary Party

Bet ya didn't know that Orbit 19 Lounge has been around for nine years. Wait, you haven't heard of Orbit 19? Maybe because it's located in that weird nowhere-land between Tarpon Springs and New Port Richey otherwise known as Holiday? It's high time you get acquainted with the swanky BFE venue, and this Friday's free anniversary festivities are reason enough.

A trio of Florida trios working the indie retro-surf rock angle provide musical entertainment. Miami's raw garage-pop goof-offs, Jacuzzi Boys, take up headlining duties. Their loose and laid-back sound was informally endorsed by Jack White when he invited them to record a live set at his Third Man Records headquarters in Nashville and issued it on wax via the label in early 2011. Their girls-and-sweets-themed sophomore full-length, Glazin', followed later that year.

Rounding out the music is Beach Day, from Hollywood, which has a summery '60s-flavored girl group pop aesthetic; and the Bay area’s own instrumental surf-abilly outfit, Tidal Wave.

Details: Fri., May 18, 9 p.m.-2 a.m., Orbit 19 Lounge, 1542 U.S.19 N., Holiday, free admission, orbit19lounge.com.
