Sometimes when you hope for a brighter tomorrow, a brighter tomorrow actually comes. Which is awesome, because you can sit up on your high-horse bright today and point and laugh at dark, stupid yesterday while you drink your coffee, and maybe realize yesterday wasn't so bad after all. (Mostly it was, though.)

Medical marijuana facilitator Trulieve opened a dispensary in St. Pete yesterday, the city's first and the company's ninth in the state. The world didn't end, St. Petersburg children didn't immediately turn into the sinning donkey-boys of Pinocchio's Pleasure Island, and some people who otherwise might be courting an opioid addiction or breaking the law got a closer place to get the medicine they need. Meanwhile, the Inverness City Council is trying to ban dispensaries in the city, because all change is scary and bad.

News broke yesterday that a Jacksonville sportsball guy was arrested Tuesday night after an altercation in a St. Pete apartment-complex parking lot. Evidently some guy made a comment about sportsball guy's driving, so sportsball guy punched the dude, stepped on his glasses and threw the dude's groceries in a nearby lake. Very mature, sportsball guy. Very sportsballmanlike.

And finally, remember that charity in Oldsmar whose expansion had neighbors worried about the quality of person it was bringing to the neighborhood? (Super classy, BTW.) Well, some South Seminole Heights residents have also decided that's a perfectly acceptable look, and are getting all NIMBY about an addiction recovery center scheduled to open nearby. Look, you're all gonna be displaced by an organic food-truck rallying grounds and bocce ball park for dogs pretty soon anyway, so just try to get along until then.
