In September, Nojaks announced that its long-awaited restaurant was set to make its debut in mid-October. Instead, the joint, which is set to have a generous amount of vegan eats, is opening next week at 305 N. Polk St. across the street from The Hub.

The fast-casual restaurant is a partnership between Tampa Bay culinary minds, Wesley Rodrick and Anthony Masters, who was the executive sous chef at On Swann.

According to its website, "[Nojaks] believe[s] in serving food that's whole, unprocessed and as natural as can be." Oh, and if you didn't know, Nojak's stands for No jackshit. "Which means simply, nothing fake."

The concept lives this by working with local farms and small artisan producers nationwide to create its seasonal menus.

That means housemade buns baked daily, that are preservative-free and vegan. Sandwiches on the menu include the Classic Nojak with a veg patty and special sauce. If you’re a meat lover, you can grab the All-American Nojak with beef and cheddar cheese. Another is the NFT Supreme with super crispy, brined tofu with house pickles and ranch.

Side dishes range from oven-roasted potatoes with sauce to a house salad, and crunchy veg slaw. There’s also a beverage list with cold brew, natural wine, local beer, and Boylan Bottling Company sodas.

The first day of service is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 17. Lunch service at Nojaks goes down from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Tues.-Sat. and 5 p.m.-9:30 p.m. for dinner service Thurs.-Sat.. We know what you're thinking, what about service for late-night bites for those crawling around downtown? Have no fear, Nojaks will be open 9:30 p.m.-1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, too.
