BEST PLACE TO RENT DVDS

Your local public library

Looking for a place that rents that nice two-disc special edition of Singin' in the Rain or maybe even some exotic foreign fare? Or perhaps you've been coveting that gorgeous but extremely pricey box set the prestigious Criterion Collection released of The 400 Blows and all the other films in Francois Truffaut's Antoine Doniel series. Well, there's a great place that will allow you intimate access to all this stuff, and much more, and it's as reliable and conveniently located as they come. The video and DVD collection of the Hillsborough County Public Library may not quite rival that of online suppliers Netflix (not yet anyway), but the library does offer just about anything and everything you might want to watch, and it's absolutely free. There's no need to even leave your house, other than when you actually go pick up your booty. Just check out the library's easy-to-navigate website, browse through their titles, click on the DVDs you want, make a reservation using your library card, and then pick your stuff up when it's available (usually anywhere from immediately to a few weeks' wait, tops). The library route is quick, clean, friendly, efficient and you can't beat the price.
