Slightly Stoopid, Girls Rock Camp’s Jannus Live showcase lead Tampa Bay’s Saturday live music lineup

A Seminole Heights brewery party is gonna rock the block, too.

✔️Girls Rock Showcase For the last few months, organizations on both sides of the bay have stepped up to raise funds on behalf of Girls Rock Camp St. Petersburg, which has a simple goal of helping empower a new generation of girls and women through music. On Saturday, sponsors, donors and the community at large get to see their good deeds in action when eight “grrrl-powered” camper bands melt faces on the big stage while a silent auction and live screen-printing go down in the courtyard. Chicago w/REO Speedwagon Hits from the mid-'70s and early '80s will bump into each other this weekend when two classic-rock giants converge on MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre. Does “Don’t Let Him Go” play well with “If You Leave Me Now”? What about “Roll With the Changes” and “Hard Habit To Break”? Find out on Saturday, and don’t forget to ask Dad to come along. CRASH LANDING
Former Tampa songwriter Madison Turner talks burning out and crash landing at St. Petersburg's Lucky You Tattoo

✔️ Madison Turner w/Yankee Roses/Piss Ghost/Community Couch Richmond songwriter Madison Turner comes home to Tampa, where she spent 26 years of her life. Old friends, including Woody Bond (who we profile in this Music Issue), will help Turner’s new album, A Comprehensive Guide To Burning Out, reach its full folk-punk glory after Peach State folk outfit Yankee Roses open the show alongside three Bay area punk bands. (Lucky You Tattoo, St. Petersburg) INFO

✔️ Charm w/Vic Alvarez/Spork One of Tampa’s greatest active punk rock frontmen (Vic Alvarez of Awkward Age) brings a new single (“Flashpoint”/”Straight Line”) to Seminole Heights, where Tampa emo trio Spork also plays support for Greensboro, North Carolina quartet Charm, which is touring behind a cozy and compact new album, Living Room, which it is officially releasing at this record-store gig. Those headed out to the show should consider dancing shoes since frontman Bailey Alley croons like a disco-punk Sinatra on handsome album highlight “Gaze.” This show is early (7 p.m.), all-ages (bring little sister, with earplugs), and affordable ($5), too. THE BLOCK IS HOT

Seminole Heights Block Party w/Dean Johanesen/Jack Sprouse/Patty Kenoly Mermaid Tavern and 7venth Sun Brewery’s neighborhood block party returns and invites three other breweries (Hidden Springs Ale Works, Angry Chair and Brew Bus) plus vendors to this shindig where outlaw-country songwriter Jack Sprouse plays alongside Prohibition-era folkie Dean Johanesen and Lakeland songwriter Patty Kenoly. RIP RALPH
Tampa's Ralph Santolla, legendary guitarist for Obituary and Deicide, has died

✔️ Ralph Santolla Memorial Concert It’s been over a month since Obituary, Deicide and Sebastian Bach guitarist Ralph Santolla passed away after being left in a coma following a heart attack, but this public concert invites fans to join friends and family in celebrating the life, legacy and music of the late metal icon. An official lineup will not be released before the show, but there’s a pretty good chance that Obituary (or at least John Tardy) will take the stage at some point in the night. (Brass Mug, Tampa) INFO

Slightly Stoopid/Stick Figure/Pepper Slightly Stoopid’s ninth full-length (Everyday Life, Everyday People) was released last week, and while there’s no way all of the special guests from the effort (UB40’s Ali Campbell, G. Love, Jurassic 5’s Chali 2na and Yellowman to name a few) will show for this Vinoy Park gig, the reggae-rock band will have plenty of good company thanks to dubby NorCal outfit Stick Figure and Cali-by-way-of Hawaii trio Pepper.
