Managing to be both implausible and predictable, this slapdash little coming-out movie is diverting nevertheless, boosted by funny characterizations, cute boys and pop-cult knowingness. Big Queer On Campus Olaf "Gunn" Gunnunderson somehow remains closeted to his family, a fact that comes as a surprise to his boyfriend Nathan when he shows up unexpectedly at Gunn's Midwestern home during Christmas break. It's even more of a surprise to the audience, since this is the most non-threatening parental unit in the history of coming-out movies: a highly unlikely college professor/stoner dad (Derek Long) and a Yule-crazed Greenbay Packer fan mom (Kelly Keaton). A lovable Roseanne lookalike with a Minnesota accent strong enough to cut a cheesehead, Keaton steals every scene she's in. Director Rob Williams will do a Q&A after the screening. Fri. Oct. 9, 7 p.m., Tampa Theatre —David Warner
