Ybor City’s Hot Wax Smoke Shop is stepping into the coffee world when it opens its first Hot Wax Coffee Shop early next month.
The 2,500-square foot coffee shop will sit at 1522 E 7th Avenue, connected to the original Hot Wax Smoke Shop next door (and the Reservoir Bar just a few more steps away).
Hot Wax Coffee Shop will sell regular drip coffee, espresso, lattes, and cappuccinos. Local coffee brands like espresso brand Café Perez will be featured on the menu alongside a wide range of food like pastries, sandwiches, kava and kratom teas, beer and wine. CBD products will be sold too.
“It’ll be our take on the coffee shops in Amsterdam. We’re trying to feature local stuff,” owner Kevin Matherson told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay.
Matherson and co-owner Justin Gensel have been working on this project for a year.
Hot Wax Coffee Shop will be open Mon.-Thu. 9 a.m.-midnight, Fri.-Sat. 9 a.m.-3 a.m., and Sun. 9 a.m.- 8 p.m. Masks are required for entry inside and the shop will disinfected frequently.
