Sh*t Happened 1/16/17: Coyotes amok, Kriseman gives state of the city, Ringling Bros. takes down the big top for good

A word to the wise: Prosecco is not a replacement for dinner.

FRIDAY, JAN. 13:

Don't freak out, but somebody saw a coyote in North Port. Nature: It exists! Don't pet the pretty pointy-dog. Also, if your cat lives outside, it's not "your cat."

SATURDAY, JAN. 14:

St. Pete Mayor Rick Kriseman gave his State of the City Address, addressing sewage and the Pier among other issues while not saying much on the subject of the Rays. Also not mentioned: how we're in that phase of the cycle where the people who keep St. Pete weird and creative are getting priced out of their storefronts.

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus announced it will be taking down the big top for the last time, and closing down "The Greatest Show on Earth" after 146 years. Feld Entertainment, the owner of the brand, blamed the end of the circus on people who don't like the idea of elephants being beaten. So, good, then.

SUNDAY, JAN. 15:

And finally, a 50-year-old Perry woman was shot in the head by someone outside her mobile home. (And survived, BTW.) If you can think of something more Florida than that, we'd love to hear it.
