It’s hard to believe that Peter Kokkinakos and Benjamin Saylor are still under 30 years old.
The duo — childhood friends collectively known as Jensen Serf Company — earned a Best of the Bay award in 2012 (“The Best Band that Can’t Drink Legally”) and has been rolling out lo-fi manic, stoned and psychedelic garage rock in the vein of old Ty Segall, Link Wray and The Fall ever since.

Several musicians have rolled in and out of the Jensen Serf Company lineup, but Saylor and Kokkinakos have always been at its core. A surprise Halloween album was one of last year’s most overlooked releases, and everything leading up to that album (especially 2015’s June In A Field Of Flowers and 2014’s pseudo-compilation Triple Freaks A Beach) speaks to the pair’s simple commitment to playing the best music it has inside of it no matter what crowd it’s playing in front of.
