St. Petersburg College’s two-year Music Industry/Recording Arts program is dedicated to giving its students real-world training within a collaborative environment. The faculty — made up of active musicians with professional and academic cred — teaches technology and recording skills in three versatile state-of-the-art production suites along with offering insight on how to be a working musician or music professional in today’s ever-changing industry. The program has been such a success because students from performance, composition and production “tracks” are forced to work together, using what they’ve learned in live and recorded collaborations, which have spawned local groups like The Real Clash and Broke Bones.
