Earlier this week a video went viral showing a group of anti-mask protesters parading through a Fort Lauderdale Target while blasting Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” and now Dee Snider is also not gonna take it.

The rock legend took to Twitter to criticize the protesters and to let them know he’s not happy they used his song.  “No…” tweeted Snider, “these selfish assholes do not have my permission or blessing to use my song for their moronic cause.”

In the video, a group of people can be seen moving through the Target store located at Coral Ridge Mall, yelling “Take your mask off!”

The “flash mob” was organized by the ReOpen South Florida group. “In celebration of Burn Your Mask Day we decided to spread some freedom dust over the shoppers and employees of Target! #burnyourmask #freeyourface #nomask,” said the group, which also published a clip to YouTube.

According to the Sun Sentinel, the stunt resulted in Broward County fining the Target store for not enforcing the mask law, and protestors also received citations.

Since their emergence during the initial lockdown, the ReOpen Florida Facebook groups have been hotbeds for conspiracy theories, and general anti-government sentiment.

While there are now multiple/regional ReOpen pages currently on Facebook, the initial page was started by the group We Are Change, a radical group of conspiracy theorists and activists who call themselves "patriot journalists" and “truth seekers.” Members of We are Change have argued that “more people will die from the shutdowns than the virus” and that 9/11 was a cover up by “big corporate media.”
