Next month, Winter Whiskeyfest hits downtown St. Pete for the first time.

Remember the piece we ran earlier this week about a couple of new drinking experiences? Well, there were initially two on our radar — but then whiskey happened, so there’s a third.

Hosted inside Red Mesa Events’ elegant La Florida Ballroom, the inaugural Winter Whiskeyfest is expected to showcase 12-plus kinds of whiskey from local and out-of-town distilleries, matching them with complimentary bites and live music to break in the new venue. The downtown St. Pete tasting event takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 9.

Participating whiskey purveyors include WhistlePig, American Freedom Distillery, Kozuba & Sons Distillery, Michter’s, Elijah Craig, Coopers’ Craft, and Evan Williams.

There’s a limited amount of tickets, which cost $75 and can be purchased online, but the price includes a commemorative tasting glass and food — including steak crostini and ceviche prepared by Red Mesa chef Chris Fernandez.

Even better is that a portion of the fest’s proceeds benefits the LGBTQ, transgender and youth programs of Metro Wellness.

Seriously, how did we miss this?
