GREG POULOS
On his solo debut, local mainstay Greg Poulos (The Venturas) assembles a who's-who of Tampa Bay players for an accomplished, superbly performed blues record. Damon Fowler, Dan Toler, Patrick Bettison, T.C. Carr and former bandmate Jennifer Leigh join Poulos on a dozen well-chosen covers and original tracks, among them seminal tunes by Gregg Allman ("Queen of Hearts"), "Big Legged Woman" and "She's Got You." Ably backed by drummer Dave Reinhardt and bassist Rob McDowell, Poulos is a first-rate guitarist, his musicianship never more apparent than on the lovely, thoughtful title track. CD release parties are scheduled for June 27 at Ace's Lounge and June 28 at Linger Lodge, both in Bradenton. 4 stars
