A faded red Winghouse building has been sitting empty on 4th St. N for a few months now, but according to St. Peterbsurg construction records, a Rumba Island Bar and Grill is set to open inside of the vacant 5,300 square-foot restaurant.
The soon-to-be Rumba Island restaurant has been under construction for a few weeks now, although there is no projected opening date yet.
Rumba Island Bar and Grill has two locations in Tampa Bay currently, one in Clearwater and the other in Oldsmar. Its name is rather self-explanatory, as the restaurant offers a variety of tropical-themed appetizers, entrees, and cocktails.
Stand out dishes on its menu include the island seafood platter, crispy coconut shrimp, and mahi mahi skewers—all which can be expected from the new St. Petersburg location when it opens.
