We are just weeks away from the return of the Cuban Sandwich Festival, and the 9th annual celebration is set to be bigger than ever.
On Sunday, March 29, from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Cuban sandwich makers and Cuban sandwich fans from all over will gather at Centennial Park in Ybor City to compete, sample and possibly set a world record.
Throughout the event, participants will attempt to break the record for the Biggest Cuban Sandwich in the World, making a sando that is 190-feet long. In case you were wondering, this massive creation won't go to waste. After (hopefully) breaking the recond, the Cuban will be cut up and donated to a homeless shelter, feeding over 450 homeless people in Tampa Bay.
Contestants competing for the title of Best Cuban Sandwich includes concepts from all over the world including South Korea and France, as well as local joints like Smoke House Bbq, Pipo's, Tampa Sammich and Las Palma.
Over 100 food vendors are on the roster slinging eats, while attendees enjoy live music and performances. Beer and wine are available for sale, and might get you close enough to join in on Salsa and Zumba classes.
Centennial Park is located at 1800 E. 8th Ave. in Ybor City. Being that parking in Ybor is already a nightmare on the weekends, so ridesharing may be your best bet at avoiding the frustration of parallel parking with roosters scattered around your car.
