Happy birthday, Rosa!

Film/Special EventsSunday, June 3

Beloved Bay area organist Rosa Rio celebrates her mystery birth date with Tampa Theatre during a special Summer Classic Movie Series three-for-one silent film screening event. The trio of comedy shorts star three greats of the era: Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd and Buster Keaton. In The Tramp, Chaplin's most beloved on-screen character — the gentleman, bowler-hat wearing vagrant — comes to the rescue of a farmer's daughter, gets a job on the farm as a reward, thwarts a farm robbery and gets his heart broken. Lloyd plays an immature young man who encounters adventure after he's sent out west to live on his uncle's ranch in An Eastern Westerner. And The Play House features the infamous multiple-exposure dream sequence in which Keaton performs every role in a theater. Sign a birthday card in the lobby while enjoying a party for Rio prior to the screening. Sun., June 3, 3 p.m., 711 N. Franklin St., downtown Tampa, $10 general/$8 seniors, students and military, 813-274-8981, tampatheatre.org.
