Every fall, Bay area folks are treated to four days worth of jazz-geared sounds at Clearwater’s mainstay waterside oasis, Coachman Park. Clearwater Jazz Holiday has taken turn away from the smoother sounds it has doled out for so long and in the vein of New Orleans Jazz Fest, branching out into other genre territory with an entire Sunday bill of high quality roots music talent, from rockin’ alt country songstress Brandi Carlisle to the folk-soulful sounds of Amos Lee and local Americana faves Have Gun, Will Travel, and adding more funky energetic brassed-out grooves to the jazz sounds that remain by way of Chicago, Tower of Power, the disco-flavored Average White Band and local blues-funk heavyweights Acme Jazz Garage, expanded by guest vocalist singer Belinda Womack and a two-horn section, Rick Runion (saxophone) and Ted Murphy (trumpet).
