If it wasn't for world record chaser Prince Golden, your earbuds might never be able to blast "Dream," a new track from BOTB-winning Tampa emcee Jinx.

"Originally I wasn't on the song," Golden told CL when asked about the track. "I saw him perform it and fell in love with the beat and his lyricism." Golden, who fronts once Tampa based outfit Samurai Shotgun, asked to be on a remix and pestered Jinx incessantly.

"If it wasn't for [him], that song would not see the light of day," Jinx told CL. "The first time I performed it, he told me how much he loved it, and never let me forget it. I've been wanting to work with Prince Golden again for some time, and having him on this seemed organic, because of his genuine love for the song."

The track, which features a sample of "Dream Merchant" by Nite-Liters offshoot New Birth, was meant to be a lead single for a new album by Jinx, but the sonic and lyrical focus of the LP has changed along the way.

"It will still make the cut, but it won't be as highlighted as I planned," Jinx said. "Plus, there is a ton of music I'm sitting on that I need to just put out, to let the people know I'm still alive." He added that he's more than halfway through with the effort and hopes to release it by the middle of this year.

The four-minute cut definitely pays homage to the folks out there chasing big goals and dodging their dreams deferred. Prince Golden's verse hits even closer to home by touching on police brutality and the few times he was pulled over for no good reason.

"One time three cop cars pulled up on me all of them shining their lights on me, car lights and flashlights," Golden said. "I was just going to work at 3 a.m. because i had a warehouse job."
