In a seedy, sparsely-furnished motel room at the edge of the Mojave Desert, a couple — May, a small-town girl and Eddie, a cowboy — tests the boundaries of their toxic on-again-off-again relationship. The current tension stems from Eddie's passionate affair with a countess, which he has only recently ended. May is one part explosively-pissed off, one part defeated and is uninterested in dealing with Eddie's romantic delusions or his hopeless infidelity. Sam Shepard's dark drama, Fool for Love, explores themes of family dysfunction, the American West and obsessive devotion via their tumultuous motel room encounter; USF faculty member Kerry Glamsch directs the School of Theatre and Dance production, which opens this Thursday night.
