Jennifer Angus brings thousands of bugs to MFA St. Pete’s one-of-a-kind exhibit this weekend

An artist talk happens on Saturday.

“The Grasshopper and the Ant” is a classic tale, and while Aesop’s Fables may have fallen out of fashion in the internet age, the art of Jennifer Angus is inspired by “Grasshopper” and brings bright, brilliantly-colored insects to the MFA St. Pete where Angus’ display asks questions about “how society values the contributions of musicians (and by extension, artists)” while putting observers in the presence of thousands of bugs. This site-specific installation will not travel, so you’ll want to fly over to Beach Drive and see what the buzz is about before the show closes early next year.

Artist talk on Sat. Oct. 12, 2:30 p.m. Museum of Fine Arts, 255 Beach Dr., St. Petersburg. mfastpete.org.
