Cirque du Soleil Saltimbanco opening night pics.

All photos by Phil Bardi.

Here are a series of pics from the first set of the opening night presentation of Cirque du Soleil's Saltimbanco. Cirque presents its 5000th performance of Saltimbanco this Tues., June 30, at 7:30 p.m. The Cirque staple, which first premiered in Montreal in 1992, is more simplistic than later productions, the costumes are less fantastic, the color palette is neon, and the music is a mix of New Age, progressive jazz and late '80s synth funk. But all the wonder is present along with the cast of quirky, amusing characters and their playfulness is perfectly intact. The regular schedule is 7:30 p.m. Tues.-Thurs., 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Fri.-Sat., 1 and 5 p.m. Sun., now through July 5, at the St. Pete Times Forum, Channelside Drive, downtown Tampa. Tickets are $42.75-$112.75 (discounted tickets for children 12 and under). (More pics after the jump)
