Tonight, two noteworthy artists land at Falk Theatre to perform.
UK-born, Philly-based singer, songwriter, NPR host and author Wesley Stace (pictured right) finally shed his stage name after 25 years (you might remember him as John Wesley Harding), and he’s touring in support of new 16-track full-length Self-Titled, issued in September on Yep Roc; he has an easy ambling rock n' roll sound, huskily tuneful vocals and lushly orchestrated instrumental backing on his new LP. He'll be playing playing select tracks from the album.
This is not, as previously mentioned, a Cabinet of Wonders show (very sorry for that bit of mis-information). But this show does feature another talented singer-songwriter, Joe Pernice, an alt country/indie rock musician and leader of such acts as Scud Mountain Boys and Pernice Brothers. His vocal timbre is heart-squeezingly sweet.
Both men are authors, and this presentation is billed as a "Reading and Musical Performance with Joe Pernice and Wesley Stace," so they'll likely be reading from their respective works along with performing select songs from their respective repertoires.
