In the mood for some Filipino cuisine but don't want to wait for Jollibee to hit Pinellas Park? Mata's is making its debut at 4350 W. Waters Ave. this Friday, October 25.

You may recognize the concept as Mata's Carinderia from Tampa's Annual PhilFest. Mata's has been slinging plates at PhilFest, pop-up style, since 1995 and was voted "Best sisig" and "Best lechon kawali" in past festivals.

The restaurant has been teasing what's to be on the menu, and diners can expect traditional Filipino dishes like lechon kawali (deep-fried pork belly), pork sisig, lumpia, beef kare-kare, pancit (stir-fried noodle dish), and desserts like pichi-pichi, coconut cake referred to as bibingka and kutsinta.

Hours for the new restaurants are 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday.
