Eckerd College kicks off the fall semester with two enticing new exhibits. Eckerd's Armacost Library hosts Kent Bicentennial Portfolio: Spirit of Independence, a collection of works celebrating America's 1976 bicentennial by American artists Will Barnet, Colleen Browning, Audrey Flack, Red Grooms, Joseph Hirsch, Robert Indiana, Alex Katz, Jacob Lawrence, Marisol Escobar, Larry Rivers, Ed Ruscha and Fritz Scholder; on loan from Museum of Fine Arts. Both open Sun., Sept. 7, with a reception at the Elliot Gallery from 3 to 5 p.m. Work Outside is on display through Sept. 19 and Kent Bicentennial through Oct. 17, Eckerd College, 4200 54th Ave. S., St. Petersburg.
