Rubio's Coastal Grill, the fast-casual California chain credited with popularizing the fish taco, has announced where its latest St. Petersburg restaurant is going: Fourth Street. Yup, the Sunshine City will score a second location from Rubio's at 1330 Fourth St. N., across the street from Pei Wei Fresh Kitchen and BurgerMonger.

To celebrate on opening day, which is tentatively slated for early December, the newcomer is set to give away one free taco and Rubio's merchandise to the first 100 guests in line.

Plan accordingly.

Rubio's offers a menu of coastal Mexican cuisine. In addition to the famed original fish taco dipped in signature beer batter, the chain does burritos, bowls and salads built upon responsibly sourced proteins (think grouper, chicken and steak).

St. Pete scored its first Rubio's at Tyrone Square Mall in fall 2016, as did Tampa. Consistent with the two existing restaurants locally, the decor of Rubio's Fourth Street is inspired by the sea and aesthetics that speak to Baja California, Mexico, the chain's beachy roots. Expect hues of cobalt, green, indigo and sand, as well as modern pendant lighting and natural wood.

"Since opening the first Rubio's restaurant in San Diego 35 years ago, our reputation for delicious wild caught seafood and authentic fish tacos has spread across the nation, and out following of loyal fans has continued to grow," according to a statement from co-founder Ralph Rubio. "We're excited to offer St. Petersburg residents another location to enjoy our food and coastal ambiance."
