The Wu-Tang Clan might not be the group you wanna eff with, but those Two Dope Boyz In A Cadillac get it crunk on every occasion. This includes the Letter O of the Hip Hop ABCs, where we take an alphabet-aided journey through hip hop culture to find the best representative for each letter.
Andre 3000 and Big Boi are Outkast and they were able to outlast Wu-Tang’s Ol' Dirty Bastard to secure their spot on our list.
Well before the American South was the focal point of rap music, Outkast stepped on the scene discussing everything from fatherhood to flexing and time traveling to taking a chance on yourself. I won’t disrespect groups like UGK and the Geto Boys; there were Southern rap groups that preceded Outkast but there are none bigger or arguably better. I often get into arguments about which of their albums is the best and I will go to my grave believing it to be sophomore outing ATLiens, though "Rosa Parks" off Aquemini might be the perfect song.
If vivid bars and innovative videos aren't your thing, Outkast can still grab you with energetic live shows that leave you feeling like they gave you a little piece of their soul by the time the set ends. Outkast is six studio albums and six Grammys deep. They are also your winner of the Hip Hop ABCs, Letter O, and make for a hard act to follow. So, who gets the honors for the Letter P?
