Kendrick Meek denies he's dropping out of Senate race, though he does reject the Sierra Club; Florida Dems say "enthusiasm gap" is on the other side, and Ed Turanchik the latest entrant in Tampa mayor race: Mitch Perry Report 10.8.10

First and foremost, my condolences to Tampa Bay Rays fans, after that club's second consecutive whipping by the hands of the Texas Rangers.  Do have to admire the Tampa Tribune's Martin Fennelly for his quip that "dead men do wear plaid," however.

Speaking of the Rays game, how about a little humor to begin this report? Okay, check out Charlie Crist trying to throw a ball yesterday.

Huge news internationally as the Nobel Peace Prize Committee rebuked the oppressive Chinese government this morning by naming their revered honor to Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo.

Kendrick Meek had a curious day yesterday.  First, he felt insulted when the Sierra Club gave their big endorsement to him with Governor Crist, sparking his outrage. Then he had to issue a press release last night, condemning a silly musing by a Wall Street Journal conservative with no evidence that he was going to quit the Senate race.

The Florida Democratic party, despite evidence to the contrary, say they are fired up and ready to go, and say that if there's any enthusiasm gap in the Sunshine State, it's felt by their GOP opponents.

And Ed Turanchik is the latest contestant in the who wants to be the next mayor of Tampa.
