Do It Today

Three appealing new albums hit stores today: Cardinology, Ryan Adams' third release with The Cardinals on Lost Highway Records; Microcastle, the third psychedelic effort by Atlanta's Deerhunter, on Kranky; and I Am Robot and Proud's latest dose of electro-pop, Uphill City, on Darla Records. 

Five Emerging Pictures documentaries are screened at Beach Theatre over the course of the next several days. Today's selections are Let's Get Lost, about the wild life and times of jazz trumpeter-singer Chet Baker (2:30 p.m.); Encounters at the End of the World, Werner Herzog's film that looks at the eccentric population f scientists who call Anarctica home during the austral summer (5 p.m.); and Man on Wire, which chronicles one man's efforts to take a high-wire walk between the World Trade Center Towers (7:15 p.m.).

The City of Clearwater's Cultural Affairs Division hosts a discussion on the effects of new media on the way artists and designers engage their audiences and each other. 7-9 p.m., Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce, free admission.

Boyishly good-looking singer-songwriter-guitarist Ben Kweller brings his tour to Tampa. 8 p.m., Crowbar, $15 (all ages).

Presidential candidate Ralph Nader (yes, he's running again) discusses the Wall Street bailout, single-payer health care, the Iraq War, the environment, and other issues he's taking on during a rally in Tampa. 6 p.m., The Cuban Club, free.
