ED WRIGHT

(eddiewright.net)

Seffner-based acoustic bluesman Ed Wright is known around Tampa Bay for regular solo gigs at restaurants and bars, plus collaborations with his buddy Damon Fowler. On Just Right, Wright displays his versatility as a singer, guitarist and harmonica player. He executes melodic fingerpicking, sympathetic harp blowing and a sensitive vocal on the obscure Bob Dylan beauty "Buckets of Rain." He then turns around and drops nasty slide licks and an appropriately grizzled vocal on the Elmore James-penned blues standard "Dust My Broom." In between are fine readings of chestnuts like "Rock Me Baby," "Before You Accuse Me" and "You Are My Sunshine." Wright also shows promise as a songwriter, especially on the lovesick "My Life." —WT
