Activists to protest in front of GOP Congressman Dennis Ross' office next Thursday

Liberal activists, who opted to essentially take a vacation and cede all street protest activity to the tea party for the past couple of years, have been extremely active in 2011, and that trend continues next Thursday, April 28, when seniors and other protesters will descend upon Polk County area GOP Congressman Dennis Ross's District office in Lakeland.

The name of the protest is dubbed "Don’t Make US Work ‘Til We Die, one of 55 being held nationwide that organizers say is planned to " dramatize the harm that will come to Americans from budget cuts being proposed in Congress to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. "

The event is being sponsored by the Strengthen Social Security Campaign, though the much discussed budget plan for 2012 voted on earlier in April by House Republicans deals with Medicaid and Medicare predominantly, and doesn't focus on Social Security.

The event is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. It will begin at Medulla Cemetery, and then move up to Congressman Ross's District Office at 170 Fitzgerald Rd. Suite 1 in Lakeland. The local office of the Florida Consumer Action Network is spearheading the event.
