Three record stores in three different parts of town are all separately celebrating the vinyl release of the soundtrack for hit Netflix series Stranger Things, which hits shelves on Friday. The product is double 150 gram clear/black smoke vinyl packaged in a thick, heavyweight gatefold sleeve. Printed inserts feature album credits and additional artwork.
Believe it or not, all three stores are serving free waffles (although we're not sure if they're all going to be Eggos). Daddy Kool's waffle is said to be served with "the works."
Today, Austin-based synth dudes S U R V I V E (you know, the ones behind the score for your fave Netflix series) released a new video for "Copter" from their Relapse records debut RR7349, which you can watch below.
All those things kind of come together when your local vinyl retailers throw down for the release of special edition, first-press vinyl from the show's soundtrack. See some details below (all of these are on Friday, October 28).
- Mojo Books & Records (near the University of South Florida in Tampa) is tapping DJ Suspiria to play some synthwave and Miami art-rock outfit pari∀h to rock their party. There will be Dungeons & Dragons set up, a costume contest and 15-percent off drinks for anyone in costume. INFO
- Steelworker Records (in Tampa’s Riverside Heights neighborhood) will be giving out candy to ambitious trick or treaters. They'll have the show on loop on TVs all day and will be giving out Stranger Things buttons with every purchase. They'll also stock extra halloween themed vinyl, CDs and tapes. INFO
- Daddy Kool Records on The 600 Block in St. Petersburg is giving anyone dressed as a Stranger Things character an additional 5-percent off their purchase. All soundtracks will be 15-percent off, and there will be Dungeons & Dragons set up, too. INFO
- Seminole Heights’ Microgroove is skipping the fanfare, but will be carrying the limited edition vinyl and “silently mourning the death of Barb.” INFO
It goes without saying that every one of these events is a full-blown costume party, too.
