Tampa's bartaco premieres at Hyde Park Village

On Tuesday, Tampa's upscale Mexican food destination bartaco opened at Hyde Park Village, giving the public long-awaited tastes of its trendy, spicy eats during dinner.

At 1601 W. Snow Ave., next to its lowercase-named neighbor lululemon athletica, bartaco showcases an easygoing lineup of tamales, rice bowls, trays of tacos and other West Coast-style dishes. Patrons may dine in, or take their food to-go.

Though the Connecticut-based bartaco operates locations across the country, its Hyde Park restaurant — joining anticipated concepts like Buddy Brew Coffee, On Swann and Goody Goody — is a first for Florida.

For the thirsty, the drink menu highlights bottled and canned brews, tequila flights and nine signature cocktails, including the Pisc-eau Sour with pisco, lemon juice, apricot eau de vie, egg white and tiki bitters.

"bartaco becomes an establishment in every city it goes because of its laid-back atmosphere, dedication to fresh ingredients and craft cocktails. We are honored they are making their debut to the state of Florida right here in Hyde Park Village," said Jeff Curley, director of development for WS Development, which is revitalizing the retail spot.
