Union officials say no deal in place yet on rail

Union officials are denying a published report that the AFL-CIO has reached an agreement with supporters of SunRail and will support the legislation being discussed this week in Tallahassee.

The denial comes after the Orlando Sentinel  reported that the union had come to terms on the CSX deal.

The Sentinel reports:.

that city of Orlando source says the AFL-CIO has reached an agreement with the supporters of SunRail to drop their opposition to the $1.2 billion project. Details were sketchy, but the union was seen by many experts as the last major obstacle to passage of the bill that would approve a liability agreement necessary for the 61.5-mile system to operate.

However, Rich Templin with the organization tells CL that he cannot confirm that report, and joked that the Sentinel has reported something similar "about 10 times."  He said that there are definitely conversations ongoing, but where they end is not known at this time.
